Lips Masterclass - Dermal Filler

Our lips masterclass course is taught by our Advanced Nurse Practitioner and has been structured from start to finish with you in mind, to assure that when you complete your training, you will leave with the specialist skills to create fabulous lips to suit all your clients needs.

The aesthetic course covers the anatomy and physiology of the skin to ensure you have the knowledge and understanding of human related mechanisms that could have some involvement in the process of these treatments, and in order to aid in your knowledge of the procedures in Dermal Fillers.

You will also learn how to administer lidocaine infusions to ensure your clients receive a pain free treatment. In order to achieve this you will learn further anatomy and physiology of the facial nervous system. during the classroom based element of your course.

You will gain practical experience both in the classroom and working on live models.

Course Content

Hyaluronic Acid

  • Understanding the properties and function of hyaluronic acid in dermal fillers, including its ability to attract and retain moisture for plumping and hydrating the skin.

Anatomy and Physiology

  • Studying the structure and function of the lips, mouth and surrounding facial anatomy to ensure safe and effective filler placement.

Anatomy of the Lips and Mouth

  • Exploring the specific anatomical features of the lips and mouth, including muscle structure, blood supply and nerve innervation.

Lidocaine Infusion

  • Learning how lidocaine, a local anaesthetic, is infused into hyaluronic acid fillers to minimise discomfort during injections and enhance patient comfort.

Contraindications

  • Identifying medical conditions, medications and lifestyle factors that may contraindicate lip filler treatments to mitigate risks and ensure client safety.

Consultation Process

  • Developing skills in conducting comprehensive consultations to assess lip anatomy, discuss client expectations and determine suitability for treatment.

Full Lip Assessment

  • Conducting thorough assessments of lip size, shape, symmetry and proportion to formulate individualised treatment plans tailored to client goals.

Client Selection

  • Applying criteria for selecting suitable candidates for lip filler procedures based on anatomical considerations, aesthetic preferences and medical history.

Pain Management

  • Utilising various pain management techniques, such as topical anaesthesia, nerve blocks and ice packs, to minimise discomfort during lip filler injections.

Adverse Effects

  • Recognising potential side effects and complications associated with lip filler treatments, including swelling, bruising, asymmetry and vascular compromise.

Complications Management

  • Implementing strategies for managing adverse events and complications that may arise during or after lip filler injections, such as vascular occlusion or infection.

Anaphylaxis

  • Understanding the signs, symptoms, and management of anaphylactic reactions to lip fillers, including emergency protocols and the use of epinephrine.

Hyaluronidase

  • Familiarising with the use of hyaluronidase enzyme to dissolve hyaluronic acid fillers in case of complications or undesired outcomes, such as overfilling or vascular compromise.

Aftercare

  • Providing comprehensive post-treatment instructions to clients, including advice on lip care, swelling management and monitoring for complications.

Health and Safety

  • Adhering to strict hygiene protocols, infection control measures and safety standards to minimise the risk of infection and ensure client well-being.

  • Receiving guidance on marketing, pricing, and client retention strategies to build and grow a successful lip filler practice.
